Growth Circles is a fiscally sponsored project of Community Initiatives benefitting the middle school students of Bayside MLK School in Marin City, California.

Thank you for sending the middle schoolers of Bayside MLK School in Marin City to Washington, D.C. for spring break 2018! Led by energetic teachers Mr. Edney and Ms. Banks, and school administrative assistant Mr. Julius, they were amazed by what they learned in our nation's capital, and in a day trip to Philadelphia. The students were inspired by college visits to Howard University and Georgetown University, and personal meetings with a Secret Service agent and the SVP of Policy and Advocacy at the NAACP. They visited many museums and memorials, including the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the African American Civil War Museum, the Holocaust Museum, the Air and Space Museum, and Independence Hall. Students also toured the Capitol and Pentagon, and visited the Supreme Court and Library of Congress. The trip gave several of our students their first opportunity to travel by airplane. Thank you for making it possible for our students to embark on this educational adventure!
